When you click on live.dial (or any of the other live UI objects) it brings them into focus. Then, if you click the up or down arrows, or type numbers, those values change the live.dial object. Is there a way to turn that off, so that the live.dial only responds to clicking with the mouse. It’s the way the regular dial object works, but I prefer the look and other functionality of live.dial.
I’d like the focus to be active when I’m clicking on the dial, but to release the focus when I release the mouse button.
I had the exact same problem once, and what I did was a really awful hack – I wrote an external that stole the focus every time live.dial claimed it. I can privately give it to you, but if anyone else has another solution I’d definitely stick to it, as mine is quite a pita to deal with (and it’s mac only, and it has no documentation, and I never tested it on Max6).
Thanks, aa. I appreciate the offer, but I do need the functionality in both Mac and Windows. I guess I can create my own dial that looks like the live.dial and use it in pictcontrol. That may be my best bet.
