I would like to use several externals in place of standard msp objects. However, ideally I would do this in a way that achieved the following:

1 - Doesn't require deletion/replacement / moving of the standard objects

4 - does not result in "you have multiple objects named.." messages

I expect that the full complement of ideals is not possible. However, I'm willing to consider any option which gets me as close as possible in a search for the best solution. As I write this I'm guessing that naming the objects identically and placing in the search path before the standard folders would achieve all but the last of these.

1 - Could I do better with object mappings?

2 - Can object mappings override one another? In other words if there is an object mapping for a standard object, then another for the same object name, what happens?

I looked into this a bit, and seemed to find the following:

In max5 - if my objectmapping comes later (in alphanumeric ordering) then my object mappings are used.

In max 4.63 - if my objectmapping comses earlier then mine is used.

Be great to have this confirmed by someone from c74, as this seems to get me all 4 of the above.

However, either way, I have a further question relating to help / ref files.

The above works, but I'd also like to hijack the standard ref / help files - at the moment I haven't made any alternatives so those objects now can't find helpfiles. All I want to do is open the standard ones.

I would rather not copy all of them and rename, although obviously that is an option....

Any way I can get my objects to link to the standard help file and ref page (the objects have different names to the standard ones)?
