Im trying to find a way so that if a user saves the .adv preset, it will recall a umenu selection, or even in a textedit box. However, it seems this is impossible in m4l. Can someone confirm this is true?

It's possible. You need to connect a [pattr] with parameter mode enabled.

Thanks broc, I did exactly this, to set up a pattr to detect a umenu. however, im having further problems now, because it seems that some parameters for a vst~ are held in fxb and not set through the parameter system. Ive posted another topic, to find if there is a way to store the fxb when closing a live set.
