serial object doesnt like FTDI usb to serial adaptor on OS10.9
im trying to use an FTDI based peripheral with the Max serial object and im running into this issue: max only seems to find the /dev/cu.usbserial-XXXX device and doesnt allow me to use the /dev/tty.usbserial-XXXX device. furthermore, when i tell the serial object to use it, the max window tells me
serial: error setting tty attribute (/dev/cu.usbserial-A900M27O)
if i tell max explicity to use /dev/tty.usbserial-A900M27O as the serial port (instead of the a-z shortcut) I get the error
serial: specified port not available
in the Max window. Am i doing something wrong or am I going to have to write my own external for this to work? :) not that im opposed to that…

i ‘m also having troubles with serial interfaces that nevertheless appear in "system infos" , at the USB tab .
in Max , i can only get "Bluetooth-incoming-port" and "Bluetooth-Modem" .
i would say it seems to be a sort of "max problem" , but i’d like to test it on another software .
i don’t know yet which software i could try , to see if it links to the serial interface …
if you make an external , JRSA , i would surely say i’d be interested to ! …
(P.S. : the ENTTEC enabler/disabler doesn’t change anything in my case )

i had made a mistake , that consisted in not installing the needed driver , for prolific usb to serial adapters ,
now i have downloaded it (http://www.prolific.com.tw/US/ShowProduct.aspx?p_id=229&pcid=41) ,
and i can access the serial output, from "serial" object .
sorry Cycling , hope you haven’t been spending a second on this …
well , first , i mostly hope that you have founded a solution , JRSA ,
my last post was quite unpolite …
