I want to make a max msp subpatch, which will be used multiple times in my project. Is there any way to make it so that when I change a patch, all its instances update?

Basically I'm wondering if max has ability to use "static" patches, which would share equal logic without need to duplicate the patch and replace each in case I want to change it.

Later you can use it by making subpatches, but ommit "p" in the subpatch name.

For example to use xxx.maxpat, make a subpatch and name it xxx.

Just take care to have this abstractions in max search path

(or keep a copy in the same location as main patch)

and to avoid using a name that allready exist somewhere in max search path

like some external etc, because that would produce a conflict.

If You change something in xxx.maxpat, all xxx subpatchers will change accordingly.

Nice command is de-encapsulate, in case You want to just edit one instance within main patch...

AND if You want to share main patch with other maxers, You must send them the abstraction patchers too.
