[sharing] expressive resonance on moving noises
This is a messy patch but there are presets combinations you can play with, moving the mouse. Perhaps you’ll want to get more deep in the patch if you listen to the example sound :
There are 2 patches to load together :
- Stereo-noises.maxpat, with presets, is the noise source, sent~ to the second patch which make the synthesis with resonators~ :
- BlurAdditiveControl.maxpat, which also come with presets.
-> you can make preset combination between both patches.
There are 2 versions of the stereo-noises patch : one if your output is at 96000Hz, and the other for 44100Hz. But even with modifications it sounds different (nicer in 96000Hz)
If somebody can explain me why a simple patch using only 5 lores~ sounds different in 96Khz or 44.1Khz, thanks by advance.
(Note: resonators~ for mac users is joined, pc users will need to dl the object from the CNMAT)
i’m not into performances, but one could make some pretty sounds for performances using this.**
P.S.: I’m wondering that one may obtain sounds looking a bit like these, using a convolution method with max fft simple objects. But my way of doing, not only opening more control and possibilities, really sounds far better to me than convolution, correct me if i’m wrong. (+ knowing the mp3 example sounds is poorer than the patch in 96Khz)
pps : Ah, if you move the harmonics multisliders, sometimes there seem to be a few bugs while sending data to the resonators~, and you may casually hear buggy sounds that you’ll stop by pressing the blue "clear" msgbox.

Nice sounds, sharing your fun is much appreciated. You should definitely get into performing with this. Be nice and post a video…
You should be the first to show it, its your sounds (and youtube accepts anything).
Don’t worry, it will be cool no matter how high your own expectations will be…

Well, while I’m working on personal projects on just intonation that i won’t post as easily to the forum, this one looks to me more like a discovery than an invention. It’s just few resonances ordered as harmonics and noise going thru, plus there’s already a bunch of examples of this from the CNMAT that made this really nice resonators~ object. the only thing i did was to put some expressive control on it and some weird noises to control it. So i also forget to tell everybody that dl the patch: this patch is totally your ! (the only reason i forgot my mail inside the patch is in the case it inspire you something nice, then i don’t mind receive your youtube link.)
I forget to tell that to listen to softer source noises, you have to set the big numberbox "noise satu" to 1. instead of 22., in the stereo-noises patch.
Note 2 :
The BlurAdditiveControl patch uses the "outputgain" feature of the resonators~ object from adrian freed at CNMAT, this feature was at the beginning a special request, to be able to manipulate independently the output gains from each harmonic, to have a lot more control on decays when moving the "expression".
