I just presented some work at this event in San Francisco last night:

It a really great forum to get out and explain what you are doing, and chat with people who are interested. I highly recommend doing it, for whatever your project. Getting a spot to present is not too hard - an email about what your project is is pretty sufficient, it seems, and as long as you are doing something interesting, you're in. These events are held in cities around the world:

The audience was pretty big (100+), receptive, and has a number of people who would never know you otherwise. What more could you ask for? :)

I had to delete a couple of slides, but all other images are there, and my comments (tried to be true to what was actually said) adjoin. 20 secs is very short, so comments are brief!

It think it is actually pretty amazing to watch people screw up because 

it moves so fast. That plus a beer makes this an A+ event. Actually,
