i know i can import 720p mp4 files.. but they dont run smooth...

i read about a apple ProRes codec... i installed it... but i dont know how to use it with jitter.

my pc is pretty fast... 3,ghz quad core, 1gb ddr 3 graphics card and 6 gigs of ram... so this shouldnt be the problem

it is something about the videos codecs and so one...

i downloaded some HD trailers from the apple page in .mov format..

and the run perfect (sometimes a little bit out of sync) the 720p vids as well as the 1080p..

maybe try to read a little bit the jitter tutrials. you'll find some precious advice about format and codec in the appendice A.

.mp4 belongs in the heavy GOP compression category, in other words it does not contain enough i-frames which are necessary if you are putting video through a patch for processing. I have had pretty great luck using the apple pro-res 422 codec, I know some others on this forum have tested 422 alongside Photo-jpeg compression with surprising results.

If that doesn't work, check all your video objects to see if there are conflicting resolution attributes, that could be screwing things up.

how can i see if iam using the ProRes Codec.. or what settings are necessary to use it..

what do you mean with checking my objects? iam not changing anyting in the inspector... ill just create them and thats it

Well, it depends on where you are getting your video from. If it is appropriated/liberated from the web, its going to be an mp4 codec or a flash video.

Do you have any pro video apps? If so, you want to use apple's compressor or adobe's media encoder programs to transcode your footage from whatever codec it currently is to a pro-res422 codec.

You could always transcode to a photo-jpeg codec as well with ffmpegx, a free encoding program, but it has various quirks and is not always stable.

EDIT: What I mean by checking your objects is making sure they are all consistent dimensionally. For 720p, you want a resolution of 1280x720, so your attributes in your jit.qt.movie, jit.matrix or any other object in your patch that potentially requires a resolution attribute all should have that resolution be consistent. Otherwise you are potentially shrinking and/or stretching your .mov, which might lead to performance issues if it is also heavily compressed. Just a wild guess
