Project Serendipity

I have a conundrum. I want to stop the audio coming out of my visual software.. i normally run my live show with a sound card so can take my ableton/maxmsp show through my interface and running my visual software (with unwanted audio) through my internal and turn sound off on mute button.

however i am stripping live show down and am running everything through the internal, this is nice and simple except all the audio from visual clips are ruining it. someone showed me some software that can turn sound on/off on any software you have open... anyone know the name of it??
