My patch is suddenly taking about 2 minutes to save or open, and I noticed that if i look in the styles menu there are suddenly several thousand styles available all named "inlet1-2-3-1-2-1-2-2" or some other string of numbers. How do i get rid of this stuff? Did i do something to create this huge list?

I got rid of these style by saving in Max 6. Still don't know where these styles came from. They quadrupled the size of the file.

When will this virus die? Find styleRemover on this forum and clear your patch.

Thank you for the reply. However I tried your solution but I have some issues with JVM, the mxj object doesn't work. I'm on a Mac with High Sierra.

Make sure it's in the search path. Do you mean mxj is initialized but doesn't work or mxj object can't be found?

Yes it is. Can't be found. Reinstalling the latest Java version, I'll let you know if it's working.

Try another mxj (.class) that comes with Max. If it works, you may have to copy the fileout.class of styleRemover to the classes folder of Max. Just a guess. You're the first one in years who reports a Problem.

Ok it was Java. I updated it to the latest version and now the file.removedStyles.maxpat comes out. But there's a problem, I can't open that file. I see that it actually have done something cause the file size is fifty times smaller, but if I double click it nothing happens. I post a pic.

Wow 59 MB, that's really bloated up. If I had both files I could fix the styleRemover. The processed file is probably missing a comma or a square bracket.

To fix your file by hand for now open Raytec.removedStyles.maxpat in a text editor. Add ] } } at the end and save.
