I am getting a list of all track ids and then selecting certain tracks.

However, it seems that live_set tracks refers to position of the track, rather than the ID. Is there any way that I can select the track based on the ID of the track?

path live_set tracks $1 (id of my track)

if you have the id of an element from the live-object-model you can pass it directly to [live.object]'s right inlet. you don't need to go via the [live.path ] to read the id again.
