I'm new to this forum! I have limited experience with max - worked with it a few years ago on v5 and did some basic stuff, but all that learning has mostly slipped my mind.

Basically, I need to make a patch that will trigger 5 audio files to play in a set sequence (with repeats of the same audio file) - in the pattern of a bellringing method:

A friend of mine suggested doing something with coll, list and sfplays - but to be honest I don't know where to start! Right now I just have 5 sf plays with toggles.

Thanks! That's certainly a step in the right direction. Another complication is that the audio files need to overlap each other - so say if they're 10s each, 1 starts, but then 2 would need to come in after 6 seconds.

turn the metro off and on again ... should work. or rebang the load messages. sorry its late here in korea.

Brilliant, that's spot on! Just one thing left to resolve - how do I add the ordering logic? With what object?

coll works. i gave you 2 ways to add numbers. open the the coll to fill it in - like this

the first number is the list number. the second is the number that comes out (the number of your toggle)'

the second way i just kind of mad it up... put the list number in the first box and the toggle number in the second box and they will show up in the list. maybe a little faster. either way you have a lot numbers to fill in for your BOBS... maybe someone else can write an algorithm.

Fantastic, got it working now! The only problem is polyphony - the selector cuts short the playing file -so if it bangs to 1 and then bangs 1 again before the first bang of 1 has finished playing, ( it restarts the audio file of 1 as if it were monophonic synth), but I need it to overlap like a poly synth would. The problem doesn't occur when it's different number bangs.

Hey Ben. Its obvious that 2 tracks cannot overlap in the same player. So you will probably have to make 5 more players. If you number them 6-10 then you can play 1 > 6 if 1 repeats or 1 > 6 > 1 if 1 repeats 3 times.

All you have to do is re-number the selector 1 2 3 ... to 10. then number players accordingly.
