I have been using the method of use three dashes (---) on sends and returns with good reasults.

But im using two instances of the same device, and some led feedback on my monome is being duplicated as saving / storing presets (If is save in one device it also saves on the other.)

Do i have to use the three dashes (---) method also for naming objects and b patchers?

Use #0 to assign unique identifiers in bpatchers and abstractions.

EDIT: Oops, I didn't understand the question, or the problem it appears. If you're using the same device, than it makes sense that if you modify it, and save it, it would change both devices. You'll need to add some sort of user control to define the differences from within Live as opposed to within the Max Patch.

You mean using #0 before object´s name inside patchers?

You'll have to be a little more specific than 'some processes' if you'd like a solution.I use multiple instances of one Max device, and if you want them to behave differently, you have to add functionality to modify it from outside of the device, or create multiple instances of the .amxd file with the desired differences.

I managed to sort it out by getting the id of the focussed track and comparing it to the tracks id. With some conditional rules and a gate, i can stop led messages to the monome from one max device or other so they dont overlap.
