I need to generate a white noise burst within a gen object.

The noise burst is triggered by an external impulse and last for a few ms.

How can I realize that? previously I used noise together with line to shape its envelope

I use this trick now and again: sending a named history a message overrides whatever input is connected to it in the genpatcher. This means it can be used as a message-rate trigger:
