i am confused. i cannot achieve adding white text onto a video stream. what is the right way? multiplying, adding, subtracting, masking?? with black it works fine. i guess it has to do something with the relationship between the gl text color, the gl texture erase color and the colors of the videoplane...

the patch is actually build in vizzable running ableton live. so i tried to strip it down.

hope you get whats going on. please make sure to save and load it in order that the loadbangs can do their job.

please use version 1. the other doesnt seem to work...

Dunno about your patch, but here's the principle.

If you have max7, jit.gl.text is a nice upgrade

The supplied patch doesn't work for me unfortunately.

I have max 7 and my posted patch does already use the new gl.text object. I think the problem is the composition mode. It makes a difference when you add or multiply the background...

I have already tried many things but don't get it to work. Also it is important that it works in the patch I have provided since it is part of a bigger environment.

I'm in a hurry , but if if you get rid of the @capture --text

and rewrite your "test" text. your patch will change from white to black.

thanks very much for your help! now it works! but now i've come across differnet issues. one thing fixed leads to other unfixed things_

getting rid of @capture means getting rid of further processing on the type (texture) am i right? what would be the right way to keep that possibility?

please note you have to set gl.node @erase_color 0 0 0 0 in order to preserve the alpha transparency of the gl.text you are capturing. any further processing to this texture needs to ensure that the alpha plane is preserved.

to overlay, you simply use a gl.videoplane @transform_reset 2 @depth_enable 0 @blend_enable 1 and control draw order with the @layer attribute.

jit.gl.node @capture 1 @erase_color 0 0 0 0 is the way to go.

But also now there is a @output_texture and @texture_name

That you can put directly in [jit.movie ]

and with that you can also have @colormode uyvy w. your texture.

for textures chain processing.

still wasnt succesful to make it work inside vizzable.

thinks are little bit different there because of its structure.
