what would be the most elegant and cpu light way to have two endless dials, one being a divisor of the other, but both updating one another

i.e. one representing an hour hand, one a minute hand, and you could move the minute hand and the hour hand would move accordingly and vice versa

i've found a few solutions that feel a bit clunky and i'm sure there must be a really nice way of doing this

no, wait, it just doesnt make sense that two endless encoders would set each other or be set from somewhere else.

it cant work, except when both will always start at 0, which somehow isnt the point about using encoders at all.

both encoders will only represent the offset for one half of the later complex number they control. so they cant represent the sum at the same time.


 - let both output ints
 - multiply the hour one with 60

actually, the hour one wont move the minute one at all (in case you set it to have 60 minutes for 360 degree, which would make more sense than using 100)

now i am confused.


it's actually kindof a phase visualiser / control for phase offsets within a bar, or within a bar division

so i can offset a pulse by moving the divisor dial (minute hand) or the bar dial (hour hand)

i was working with keeping both at 0-1 float output,

i can get the hour to move the minute by [hour* 12. then % 1.] and i'm sure you can kindof get the minute to move the hour by taking the difference of the output of the minute dial from the [hour *12., %1] and using that to do some sort of + or accum but this is where i can't quite get it to work

this works one way, but not the other ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Recreating clockwork mechanism is not that trivial task (albeit it's not a brain surgery). You have to keep sound calculations between both dials and then fight a bit with the Max GUI. There is little usage for gen here (low volume of simple calculations) IMHO.
