It's been a while since I've used Max so I've forgotten some stuff.

I'd like to be able to change the arguments in a [route] object but as far as I can tell, there's no way to do that.

There must be an alternative mechanism to the [route] object that lets you do this. Somehow do a "set a b c" to set the route matching to a, b and c

 object there will be an additional inlet. You can reassign the arguments through those inlets. It's all demonstrated in the help file.

until max 7 route only accepted a dynamic argument when it only has 1 argument at init.

Thanks. I haven’t really worked with Max since the early Max 6 days and I’m still struggling with changes in Max 8……took me hours to figure out that the [line] object (buried deep in other abstractions) stopped working like earlier versions. I wish they had come out with a new object instead of that compatibility attribute.
