I'm trying to use CLASS_ATTR_FLOAT_VARSIZE, but the documentation doesn't provide any clues as to what the structmember or the sizemember should be.

I'm assuming that the structmember should just be, say, Float32 filterFrequencies[1024] (where 1024 is also given as the max size), but what is the sizemember? Is that int, long, something else?

there are plenty of examples on the web on how to use this kind of macro and I think there is even an example in the Max/MSP SDK.

In any case, here is an example that hopefully clears up the confusion...

#define MAX_ARRAY_LEN 1024

typedef struct _your_object
{ 
     t_object obj; 
       float structmember[MAX_ARRAY_LEN];
    long sizemember;
} t_your_object; 

CLASS_ATTR_FLOAT_VARSIZE(c, "structmember", ATTR_FLAGS_NONE, t_your_object, structmember, sizemember, MAX_ARRAY_LEN);


Of course you could also declare a pointer for structmember in the object's data structure and then do the memory allocation dynamically in the new method.
