Msp~ externals
I was browsing though my max msp program folder ,
Max 9 /resources/externals
And to my surprise almost all of msp~objectsare in there .
Are these all externals , from 2dwave~ tapin~ , tapout ~ , peek~, poke ~ even phasor~ , almost all of them
I was under the assumption these were standard msp objects ( I guess they still are standard )
"externals" was traditionally more or less the name for all compiled objects which are not "internals" or had to be in the "startup" folder for some reason; the latter were about 20 or so things in max 3/4 times.
not sure where that rumor came from that "externals" means they would be third party objects, but you can see people sometimes saying that.
it only means you may remove or rename them, in opposite to the few "internals", which are logically part of the runtime.
(not to forget that the majority of the compiled objects coming with max once were third party objects, including MSP, but that is probably not the cause for the folder name.)
