For most probably very ease, but  I don't get it: I would like to rotate the text in the JSUI object. The object itself is a slimmed down version of the one that is in the jsui-help patch. But no matter what I try with glrotate or related functions: I won't get it to work. Probably my own stupidity but I'd love to hear that from somebody else... ;-)

This is probably a really stupid question, but I've searched the web and these forums for an hour or two looking for an answer.  I hope somebody here has experience packaging max for live devices with multiple javascript files.

I am working on a Generative MIDI Tool in Max for Live (Live 12).  The main patcher has a js object that references a javascript file.  That file uses require() to load in another file.  All told, there are 13 javascript files that get required by each other to generate the midi notes.

Everything works great when I have the Max for Live editor open.  I can push the "apply" button in Live, and the code generates notes as expected.

But when I freeze the device and save it, I push the "apply" button, and I get the error message "Did not receive a note dictionary in time".  I can't see anything in the Max for Live console (unfortunately, nothing shows up in there unless the device is open in the patcher editor).  But I do suspect that this is an issue with require().  Sometimes I do see an error in the console like "foo is not a function" ("foo" being the function I am referencing from the required file).

I'm using Live 12.0.1 on MacOS Sonoma 14.3 (apple silicon) with Max 8.6.0, if any of that matters.

Hello, I am currently work with rnbo.js to develop a small webapplication. 

I create two audio elements and use them as AudioElementMediaSourceNode to connect it to the RNBO Patch. 

In my lifecycle hook of my Vue component I call within the beforeMounted function the createDevice of the rnbo lib and then I heard the first time a glitch. After couple of seconds I can recognize another glitch in the audio. 

Is this an known Issue? And if yes is there a possibilty to avoid the glitching while creating the RNBO Device?

I just wrote a small JS module mainly for debugging purposes: It iterates over any JS object and prints the content/properties formatted into the the Max console. I also included Max specific JS objects such as LiveAPI, Task or Folder so one can take a fast look at all properties.

Edit: There is a limitation with patcher, and the jsthis: They only are iterated down the line when they are on the top level. Ie:

Iteration is stopped when they appear further "down the road" like:

objectPrinter.printObj({"someProperty" : this.patcher});

This is simply to avoid endless iteration loops, as there can be references of those objects inside themselves.

I'm fairly new to using Max, and am very new to using Javascript with Max. My eventual goal is to  treat lists as arrays in JS so that they can be modified and outputted as new lists. Unfortunately, I'm struggling with the basics! 

This code doesn't work in Max when sending the message '1 2 3 4':

I'm trying to resize jsui object which is in a bpatcher when the bpatcher size change. I want that the jsui window size stay equal to the size of the bpatcher window. 

I tried a solution (attached), and it's working when I create the bpatcher or if I copy/past the bpatcher in the parent. In this case, the new bpatcher control the jsui size in it, but the bpatcher create before will no longer control the size of "his" jsui object. 

I'm certainly doing something wrong... (probably a stupid mistake).

Is anyone had an idea about this problem ?

I'm trying to get Max to communicate with a web server using Node.js, but I can't get the script running. I know I can only run the script from Max for it to find 'max-api', and I've tried with several examples, but it won't work.

Each time I press 'script npm install' or 'script start' it will log 'node process manager not running'. If I press 'script reboot' it will try to start it 5 times and say 'Node for Max process manager quit after 5 restarts'.

I can't find anyone with the same problem, and i really don't know how to solve it. I hope someone will be able to help !

It sounds like there's a syntax error in the code you are trying to run. It would be helpful to see the node console, you can see that if you use the node.script debugging tool. You can find the debugging tool in the [node.script] helpfile. It's a bpatcher you can copy to your patch and connect to your [node.script]. To see the console click the button on the top right corner of the debugging tool.

Here is a screenshot, the debug console says empty when I press any button ('npm install', 'start', 'reboot'...)

I guess the problem comes from my machine, I'm already using npm for several websites. Maybe Max isn't allowed to access npm or to start anything. I've tried a global installation of node process manager, without success.

I also installed it in that folder with the terminal, it successfully reads the package.json.

Unless I'm misremembering this already came up on the Github repo, where we suggested to get in touch with the Cycling '74 support? It appears that the Process Manager itself that Node for Max uses internally is failing to start on your machine, which hints at nothing being wrong with your scripts but something else blocking it.

To confirm are you able to open the node.script help patch and start the examples in there? The easiest way is to just open the node.script help file and see if you use the script start and script stop messages in the basic tab successfully. (debug tool shows a green success banner).

If not please get in touch with support, who will help figuring out further what might be at odds here as it might in fact be specific to your environment.

As an aside - no additional or even machine wide install of Node, NPM or any other tool is required and you don't have to use the terminal. In fact, Max ships with everything necessary to run node.script.

I can't open any script, in the node.script help patch as well.

It's slower than other max ui objects like multislider.

also it's not the drawing speed, because when you input mouse data from mousestate it updates just as fast as a multislider. So i think the mouse input somehow, somewhere gets throttled.
