General Hardware Setup Question

April 15, 2008 | 4:02 am

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum and also new to max/msp. I am currently trying to figure out what would be the best PC solution that can possibly be set up for Max/MSP + Jitter? How well does SLI work for jitter on PC? anyone got any experience setting up something like that?

many thanks.

Who knows what the best possible solution is. I usually mirror my monitors and drag the window to go full screen across to it.

SLi is not stable in games, so better wait till you have some more
experience to evolute its performance.
the mid range cards are so powerful this days you will be hard pressed to
reach their limits.

i good system to begin with is
nvidia 9600 (but also anything that supports shaders)
2-3 gig ram
intel e4600 cpu

as always, everything can be upgraded. so get a good motherboard.

also… just want to ask what are ppl’s experience with the quad core cpu? worthwhile to invest on that? I realized that it really depends on how u write the code in max/msp + jitter… and where you put the load (on the cpu or gpu)… but just want to see whether quad core is stable for max/msp + jitter?

many thanks again!!!
much appreciated!!
