I made an analog like day with gen~, following a great tutorial on YouTube. In this gen~, there are 2 other gen sub patches. I saved every gen and gen~ in a folder called "delay", and put it in the max path. 

When I copy the gen~ in a patch, it works only if the first patch (the one I used to do the tutorial) is open, otherwise it passes the sound but without any effect. It's very annoying as of course, some strange behavior appears like you play something in a patch and it bleeds to the other etc... Is there a way to save this gen~ patch somewhere and re-use it as many times I want with just copying it?

I am trying to design a few little gestural toys to use with a MIDI instrument. One is a very simple, very fast chromatic glissando. However, I am not seeing Max put out every MIDI number in the ramp I want to generate. It seems to consistently put out every nth number for a certain ramp speed: if I ask it to play over 150 ms, for example, it only outputs every 11 notes. As far as I can tell, this problem is originating in the line object. Is there some sample-rate limitation that I don't know about here, and how can it be overcome?

In addition to being a “noise-maker,” I’m also a soccer coach.During our practices, we very often use cognitive stimuli in combination with soccer drills.

One of these stimuli is the use of a metronome. It has been scientifically proven that during technical drills where each player has a ball, their focus and level of performance increase. This also promotes synchronization within the team, which in turn boosts team spirit.

So I’ve come up with the idea of trying to patch a “cognitive soccer metronome” using Max MSP.

Here are the features I want to add to the metronome:

- A simple metronome that beeps at a specific tempo.

- The metronome must be able to automatically drift in BPM

 (e.g., from 90 BPM to 100 BPM in 30 seconds)

(teaches players to listen and adjust their movements to the tempo)

I’d like to be able to turn this feature on or off with a knob.

Also, a field or presets where I can specify the BPMs and time.

Presets that I can click on seem like an easy way to switch between them with a single click during soccer practice.

-Play the beep’s pitch one octave higher or lower once, at random intervals. I’d like to be able to set the minimum and maximum durations for the random interval. 

(e.g., min 10“ max 20”; the metronome will then choose a random time between 10“ and 20” to play a single beep one octave higher or lower)

(This is to give players an extra task when the pitch changes. For example, pitch up = raise left arm, pitch down = raise right arm)

-Just as the pitch changes once at a random time, it would be fun to also be able to play an audio sample (e.g., calling out a number/color/sound) at a random interval.

(The player must perform an additional action upon hearing a number, color, or specific sound.)

It would be nice to be able to quickly activate the metronome’s “cognitive functions” with the click of a button.

A place where I can drop the “sounds” from which a random selection is made would be very practical.

Perhaps when playing a sound randomly, I could choose which group of samples to activate—or a combination of both. 

So, a separate area where I can drop the number samples and activate them separately, an area for the colors with a separate activation knob, and a separate area for the other sounds with a separate activation knob.

-Another feature I’d like to add is simply a looper where I can choose which sound loop to play with tempo changes. (e.g., a drum loop where players have to find the tempo of the beat and perform their exercises on the beat)

I’d also like a feature here where the tempo can drift. It should be activated with a mouse click and include presets for tempo and time.

-Maybe also a feature where a different beat plays randomly at times.

Pretty newbie question, but I have been avoiding upgrading to v9 because I have been working on a years long project in 8 and I’ve been concerned about things breaking in a (complicated) patcher. If I upgrade and that happens, is it easy to go back? I only ask now because there are a couple new features that would actually be super helpful in my endeavours. Sorry for a stupid question. Hi everyone. I’ve been posting on here for a while about ArtNet, and I’ve decided to bite the bullet.

I’m looking for a freelancer who would be able to code a native Max object which sends and receives artnet from Max. This object would then be open sourced so that there is a possibility of maintaining it long term.

I‘d be keen to keep the scope of the object limited - for example not incorporating complex fixture assignment features etc. I have a lot of artnet equipment which can be used to develop on, although I’d also probably expect whoever might be interested in this to have a good amount of experience in the lighting world.

This is self funded as a project, but I do have a budget. Maybe this is a long shot but I was wondering if anyone might be interested?
