I’m a beginner working on a standalone Max app, and I’m trying to build a simple navigation system. I want users to be able to click a “Next” button to switch from one patch (like page1.maxpat) to another (like page2.maxpat).

I’d also love to include a “Back” button so users can move between pages, kind of like a basic multi-level or menu-style interface.

I’ve tried asking ChatGPT, but it hasn’t been very helpful with this. I haven’t found any tutorials that cover this specific setup either, so if anyone has suggestions, examples, or even a tutorial to point me in, I’d really appreciate it.

Amazing to see how much the community has evolved and grown.

Currently working on a patch that would convert audio to numbers and the numbers could control shapes.

The error message I get in the console is 

.render: error connecting outlet 1 to jit.window inlet 1

Basically the patch receives audio from the daw.  Use metro and snapshot to sample the audio. The jit.render is used to redraw/size the shape based on amplitude.

Hello, i made a thing which is at the heart of all my years of 'click-pop' removal explorations on these forums, and the understanding of which was most solidified when i coded the 1st version of the karma~ object for Rodrigo Constanzo. 

It is a simple 'raised-cosine' ramp for the smoothest, yet catch-all fade-in/fade-out click-pop removal, i've ever found. Now i've rebuilt it in gen~... perhaps not the most efficient mechanism of its kind, feel free to iterate and post your version here, but it is working well for me for every single place i need it.

This is just a demonstration patch, utilizing it in weird ways not originally intended(using it this way demonstrates how the raised-cosine fade is related to lopass filtering, especially in sound), while still demonstrating the sample-rate reactivity and quickness of it, hope it can be useful, or at least entertaining:

Hello, want to ask everybody here and anywhere else, what is your experience with offline audio rendering?

 = my experience keeps me to create systems in Max, save them as 

 independently for different cases. And render Max stuff in Ableton. It works great. But want to know how to fast stable rendering inside Max only.

Basically, now I'm actively learn this platform for personal, artistic and commercial purposes and like this. Great stuff for synthesis, creation of instruments/M4L and whole systems, visuals and live coding/algorave. Pd for me is clunky and less stable fork of Max with more bugs and less support. SuperCollider is too much for me. TidalCycles for sequencing... Well, i prefer node-based system more, Max for me is like Factorio with cold-tech vibe. Texts are boring.

So, my question is, how to do effective fast offline rendering within Max or it is impossible because of disability of decent stable fast event-rate in large Signal Vector Sizes? And do you usually render your stuff in real-time or offline?

I'd like to capture a voice (live) and visually produce a system of particles that can be moved by voice and hand movements. I'd also like the particles to have a different color palette for each frequency, to emphasize the concept of uniqueness. I'm a beginner and I'm having a hard time understanding how to do it. I use the 'key' object to create keyboard shortcuts on almost every key on my laptop.  Very handy for performance, but obviously it can be irritating when I'm in editing mode, and all those keys start accidentally triggering things as I type.  Is there any easy solution to this problem?

I thought about sending the key output through a gate, which I could then turn off with (yet another) keyboard command when I start editing.  But I'd have to remember to do that every time I go into edit mode, and besides it's a pain.  (Also, I couldn't use a key command to re-enable key when I'm done editing!)

Hey, Im trying to set the latency dynamically (not here, just isolating the problem) and I'm getting "Cannot set latency, device not ready. Use live.thisdevice to determine when ready." although I'm already using that to trigger the message. I've tried to delay for a few milliseconds and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Any idea for a more robust solution? Thanks!
