Really like the Polish Your Pixels package, and the Max 9 amazing improvements in jitter, and have seen some of the visuals being produced on the youtube shorts, and really impressed! Great work, very inspiring.

I have been trying to get to grips with the tutorial viewer in polish your pixels, and have had some great results (in my opinion!), but I have been struggling to figure out how to use the jit.gl.pass object with @fxname dof-hq properly. 

I was using a gl.gridshape going into to a gl.multiple to produce lots of shapes, and then have some in and out of focus, much like the examples look like in the scale and distance tutorial viewer side bar. But I wasn't able to get anything like it. I also tried to use the same settings I could see being used in the tutorial. The focus controls seems to bring all of the shapes in or out of focus. I even just tried with 2 gridshapes, positioned quite far apart on the z axis to see if I could see the focus 'working', but had the same result, again everything in or out of focus. Also when I use the 'show in focus' toggle everything disappears.

So I think my question is, am I using the wrong object (gridshape) to try to see this camera focus effect? Do I have to use a setting in the 

 to enable this? Does the @position of the gridshape not effect it's 3d depth in the depth of field fx? Are the patches used in polish your pixels available somewhere? I'm using a windows 11 machine.

Recently, I have been unable to load any devices in Live that include NRPN data, like the Novation Peak or UDO-Super 8. 

Any other .amxd files load without issues, may it midi effects, audio effects or instruments.

But as soon as NRPN is inside: no chance to get it into Live.

Just recently I updated to Tahoe on my Macbook Pro M1 and now Max is super laggy. Ever other few object I want to place makes the software hang for a few seconds before going on. I cannot use it. Help patches open up super slow etc. etc. 

I didn't have issues before. I updated Max too after the macos update. Anyone having similar experiences or suggestions?

In my patch (simplified to the maximum), I send a midi note, from Protools to Max. 

Midi play in protools > Max midi bus > Max software.

This midi note send a bang to a play object (a short sound like a metronome), this sound goes to a bus output (here dolby renderer), to go back to protools be recorded in it.

I'm around 100 samples latency for this loop., between midi note and audio recorded. I wonder if i can reduce latency with a magic trick  or does it seems normal to you ?

And second question, a bit weirder : each time I record, latency is not the same, sometime less 70-80 samples, to 120 samples approx. Seems random. Does it mean something.

Dolby driver should be stable. as it is made to sync to go forth and back between Protools and Dolby renderer...

I've tested with  "Protools bus 1-6", stil the same issue. 

Is there a way / good practice to sample accurate sync two softwares ? Both are in the same mac, so I thought I shouldn't have to sync them, but it creates doubts in me.

Hello, I've been eager to get into Max/MSP for quite a while and finally have some time to start digging in. I've decided to start by following the Max Basic Tutorial available from the Cycling '74 website. 

In Tutorial 3: Numbers and Lists, I've come across something that confused me and I wonder if it's a bug caused by a collision between current Max version and older tutorial materials, or something else I'm not understanding.

The first example patch in the tutorial demos a number box. There are: a button, 7 messages (some positive and negative integers, a decimal number, a text string), an integer number box, and a print object with argument 'int' comprising the patch. The button and each of the messages send to the number box, and the number box sends to the print object. 

The issue arises when sending anything other than the text string through the number box to the print object. The text string handles properly, printing 'number: doesn't understand <string>' in the console. Sending any of the integers or other numerical data through to the print object prints the expected output ('int: <number>') but also raises an error in the actual console ('sprintf: missing arguments for message "int" '), and displays no output in the patcher/chooser in-patch simulated console. If I modify the 'int' argument to something else, like 'whole_number,' everything works as I would expect from reading through the tutorial, no errors.

I have looked into this a bit and determined that the error issue might be related to 'int' existing as a reserved keyword in the underlying environment. I assume the issue with the simulated console output has to do with the configuration of the chooser. In any case, I found this to be a confusing occurrence within the tutorial. I would be interested in learning more about what exactly is causing the issue, and it may be worth resolving in future versions of the basic tutorial to avoid confusion.

I want to create a MFL device that can play Clips in the Track it is sitting in. 

I imagined this to consist essentially of a series of ON/OFF buttons that I can map to macros in Live, then save each one in its ON state as a series of scenes which I can play using a Markov chain device I have. 

This sounds convoluted but for now, if I can get this working, I'd be satisfied with the result until I'm skilled enough to develop something more nuanced.

It seemed simple enough to try to build myself (my first mistake), so I reached out to Gemini to give me some basic instructions (second mistake).

Ai can't do non-linear logic well at all and it's especially bad at teaching, so this hasn't yielded anything that works.

This is my first post - I've only very generally familiar with Max programming so please try to explain what's going wrong in super easy language if possible.

Any help you can off would be greatly appreciated.
