I have 3 [param] objects each with a range of 0-100 with different values for the @steps attribute:

After compiling this as a VST, using the JUCE UI I'm only able to dial in values that are integers. I would expect step sizes of 0.5 for @steps 201 and 0.25 for @steps 401. Curiously this is possible using the default Plugin UI of the host:

Tested in Reaper and Bitwig. It's the same for [param] and [param~]. Looks like a Bug to me, but what confuses me is, that when e.g. I use @steps 151, then I do get floating point values in the JUCE UI.

Hi, it seems like live.adsr~ and classic adsr~ have different behaviours on note-off.

input: 0/note-off sent to adsr~/live.adsr~ while it is in it's decay phase.

adsr~ transitions smoothly from current env value to release phase

live.adsr seems to drop immediately to destination sustain value wherever it is in the decay phase, and then transitions to release phase. This creates an audible click. Very audible if a long decay time and low sustain value is chosen (say 2 seconds, 10% sustain)

I've been working on a large Jitter-based project for years with zero issues, running on Max 9.0.10. Everything was stable — good FPS, predictable GPU load.

Then I updated Ableton Live, which brought in Max 9.1.4 and later 9.1.5, and things fell apart. On the exact same project, with nothing changed on my end, the frame rate started dropping and GPU consumption went up noticeably.

I tried disabling the new "Global Context" preference to see if that was the cause, but it made no difference.

What actually changed in the Jitter/GL rendering pipeline between 9.0.10 and the 9.1.x line? Has anyone else run into this?

First things first: this isn't my discovery, I'm just the messenger. u/El_Vikingo_ on Reddit noticed something weird with Max for Live and Looper. He 

 which I noticed and I can reproduce his issue. Better yet: I think I found a possible cause as well.

, and because of that we should have access to specific properties such as 

 (which is what Vikingo was after). The only problem: these properties aren't accessible.

I checked out the Looper device using my ancient LOM.Navigator device when I noticed something peculiar: if I check the classname of the device on a track then Looper comes back as Looper, nothing weird here. But if I check the canonical parent of a device parameter then it tells me that Looper is designated as Device, but that should have been LooperDevice. When I check the compressor for example then this "inner classname" does come back as CompressorDevice.

live_set tracks 1 devices 0 => classname is Looper.

live_set tracks 1 devices 0 parameters 0 canonical_parent => classname is Device, should be LooperDevice.

As mentioned, if I try this with a compressor or shifter, even a Max for Live device, then they all behave in the right manner. As such I suspect a bug here.

Here's my patch showing proof of concept...  just dump a couple of devices onto a track (make sure to include Looper ;)), add a M4l audio effect and use this code. Then just click the button and watch the output.

I'm using Live 12 suite, with the latest Max 8.6.2.

I'm pretty new to max msp and I'm trying to recreate 

. When I try to run this I get the notification "specified serial port not available".  It looks functional in the arduino serial monitor and if I hit print in max msp the arduino port shows up in the console so I think I'm just missing something in my patch. Can someone help me figure out what's causing the problem? 

I'm running Max 8.6.5 on a Mac with an M3 chip.

Just recently I updated to Tahoe on my Macbook Pro M1 and now Max is super laggy. Ever other few object I want to place makes the software hang for a few seconds before going on. I cannot use it. Help patches open up super slow etc. etc. 

I didn't have issues before. I updated Max too after the macos update. Anyone having similar experiences or suggestions?
