Fairly new Max user here, mostly learning from books and online, lots of great resources but getting really stuck with the poly~ object. Was trying to build a polyphonic sampler that can play sampled notes from a midi keyboard with polyphony, trying to make something like the Structure free sampler in Pro tools. Had to go back to the absolute basics again so built a very simple poly synth with triangle, cycle and adsr inside the poly. Already running into issues, stuck notes, clicks, adsr not working, no attack time etc etc. I must be missing something quite basic... Attaching two screenshots of my patch, outside and inside the poly. Grateful for any guidance...

I could use a little help integrating either grooveduck or zero crossing faders into the phasor-based sample slicer in gen~. Ideally only a slight delay would be introduced to smooth out amplitude discontinuities. I'm much more comfortable programming in Max but I'm having a hard time with learning gen. I used to have mapul8tor midi and audio on my default live template, on every channel.... and then at some point a Live release came out which didn't get on well with it, so now any old project autocrashes immediately. It was a bit of a wakeup call to being careful with what you decide to trust in your template.

I wonder if anyone is interested to investigate why this happens at all? - and even if it can be fixed, is there a strategy to batch fix many instances of the patch?

This problem has persisted across Live updates in the last year, and also on my different OS and computers, so I think it must be common to everyone.

I have put some unicode into the "annotation" attribute of a "umenu" object, and the letter at beginning of words gets incorrectly replaced with a space. First picture shows the unicode text entry in the "annotation" attribute -- all good so far.

But then when hovering over that object where clue window comes up, the CLUE window corrupts the output:

The first unicode character appears, nice, but then every word that follows, it's first letter is replaced with a "space". The next two unicode character, they have gone poof up in smoke and are replaced by a "space".

Any one have a work around for this? Hmm, apart from the trivial solution, don't use those funny slanted up arrows etc.

Currently, composing gen~ algorithms from reusable abstractions requires working at the visual patcher level. It would be very useful to be able to invoke a gen abstraction as a function call from within a GenExpr.

 (which loads a .gendsp abstraction) and 

 (which drives named parameters inside a subpatcher) are both exclusively visual objects. There is no equivalent within GenExpr codebox code. The only related construct in GenExpr is 

 (capital P), which declares an externally-drivable parameter, but requires passing params via 

This means that if you're authoring a complex algorithm inside a codebox, you cannot call out to an abstraction. You have to either inline everything, or split your design across mixed codebox/visual-patcher layers, which can get unwieldy.

Something along the lines of this would be cool, no need for complex import statements:

out1, out2 = gen("example.filter", in1, freq: cutoff, q: resonance);

This would allow building modular, composable DSP algorithms entirely within the codebox authoring context, treating abstractions as first-class callable units rather than requiring a context switch to visual patching just to wire in a subpatcher.

Hi, a few months ago I got great advice on 

how to crossfade between PLY point clouds using jit.gl.model

I created a setup where the patch fades between about 15 point clouds in random order, and this runs continously. This has been running great on a mac mini M4 24/7 for about a week when the patch (and the computer) froze with a message about being out of memory.

I am wondering if I have been sloppy when replacing the PLY models in the jit.gl.model objects.

I have assumed that when I read a new point cloud the the previous one is disposed, but do I need to do this manually by using the dispose message?

So I've got a live.numbox in percent unit style with a range of 0 to 200, and I'd like it to have 201 possible values. With the steps attribute set to 0, I can only land on odd numbers. If I set steps to 201, I can only land on even numbers. If I set steps to 402, it works as expected (I'm able to select every integer from 0 to 200). Am I missing something about how this is supposed to work?

[Edit: My original post said that changing the steps attribute seemed to stop the numbox sending out its value on startup, but never mind, I think that’s a separate issue.]
