On Max 9.0.5 running on a MacBook M1 Air laptop, I just observed a very strange reproducible crash, which can be demonstrated  in the  minimal external code below.

Hi Tim, thanks for pointing that out. The Min framework looks amazing, but I have coded my own package via the C api. Is there a way I could access this function from the standard SDK?
I've seen that in your Min code there's a box() function (which I assume returns the object box?) to which something like a "startprogress" message is to be sent, I imagined that box() may be somehow an higher level abstraction upon the C api, but I cannot seem to find in the github repository the layer where box() is implemented...

The box() method returns the object's box. You can do this in the traditional SDK with a call to object_obex_get() and using #B as the key. You can then send messages using `object_method()`.

Hi Tim, fantastic, that settles it. I had explored it that route but I was using a pointer to an atom, whereas object_method() seems to need a pointer to a t_atom_float to work.

Hi, an SDK question in case anyone has done this or can point me at resources before I spend time barking up the wrong tree or reinventing things I don't need to. :-)

I would like code in my dsp perform routine to safely get text messages that originated in the main or scheduler thread. The messages could be long, and there could be more than one to consume per DSP pass. I'm assuming I'm need to consume them from some kind of thread-safe buffer. (I'd also like to go the other way eventually). Any tips?

i want to prepare my Laptop and GitHub repository for developing c-externals with Max 8.2 SDK, Visual Studio 2022 and CMAKE 3.23.0 for Max 9.0.4. on Windows 10. Therefor i want to clear some points:

I'm writing some externals to be used inside Max4Live objects. I would like to time events based on the Transport. Right now I'm reading the transport time using the [

] object and then passing the ticks into my external using a [

I just started working with the min-devkit a little bit and I am running into a weird crash I don't quite understand (see code snippet below).  I am on Sequoia 15.1.1 on a 2023 M3 using Max 8.6.5.

If I send something out an outlet, starting with a string followed by a single number (e.g. float), that works. Anything else seems to cause a crash.

What I am trying to do is add a string before a list of floats so I can use [route] in max to further process the output.

Furthermore, when I use a string followed by atoms
