If you compare the 'Forbidden Planet' example in Max (Menu: help>examples>fft-fun>forbidden-planet) with its RNBO corollate:

You can hear that they sound quite different.

This difference becomes extremely pronounced if you plug a sample into each patch (I used 'Cherokee').

The Max version sounds as expected (a narrow bandpass filter bank), but the RNBO version sounds distorted, non-linear and noisy when the sample is played through it.

Can anyone else reproduce this behaviour?

Has anyone successfully transmitted audio and MIDI over USB to a host computer while running an RNBO patch on a Raspberry Pi? I think audio USB gadget mode and MIDI USB gadget mode would be necessary for it.

I couldn't find any documentation about this on Cycling '74's site.

 (exported a while ago) -> The DLL compiles perfectly, and the module works in HISE. However, when I try to import and compile a 

 (specifically the Cycling '74 Git Pedals example, but also simple new tests), the compilation fails.

 The batch compile process fails. When checking the build in Xcode/Terminal, the error occurs during the compilation of 

. It seems like the linkage between HISE and the generated RNBO code is broken for these new exports.

 Since my old exports work but the new ones fail with the exact same HISE setup: Are there any specific new checkboxes in the RNBO Export settings that I might be missing? Or does HISE require a specific setting for newer RNBO versions (e.g. regarding Mono/Stereo channel counts or vector sizes)?

Hi everyone! I’ve been working on extending the classic FFT7 tutorial patch from the C74 docs and turning it into something more robust and RNBO-ready. The repository contains two versions: Version 1 – optimized for speed and transient response. Version 2 (v1.7) – a major rewrite where the entire logic lives inside gen~. With v1.7, my main focus was improving how the tracker reacts to monophonic signals (e.g. voice, guitar, synth). The goal was to achieve more stable tracking, reduce jitter/small frequency fluctuations, and get a generally calmer response. I’d really appreciate it if anyone has time to take a look at the code! I’m especially interested in feedback on the overall approach or anything that could be improved.

I’m a software engineer who is new to Max and audio, but I’m looking for a way to create custom interior and exterior driving sound for a couple of EVs I have. I’ll be using raspberry pi and my custom made hardware that currently gets literally any data from the electric motor in my the car (rpms, speed, throttle, power in kw, recuperation and a dozen of other metrics). I haven’t measured data delay and latency, but I believe I can pull data pretty fast if needed.

I’ve heard that Shepard tone and granular synthesis should be used to achieve this, but after asking my friend audio engineer to make a PoC in RNBO, I wonder if instruments in RNBO can pull of sounds like in major EV producers (Hyundai, Mercedes, GM, Porsche). I love how taycan and cayenne sound when you drive these seemingly “boring” EVs, but so far we were not able to pull off a good sounding rnbo patch with recorded CAN data from real car - basic versions sounded ok but very synthetic, more complex ones with Shepard, poly, gran synth sound bad so far, very far from what I’d like to achieve. It’s worth noting that my friend has experience with max but he is new to RNBO, after our trials and errors he also wonders if it’s possible to achieve within RNBO.

Does anyone know if it’s feasible to do it or should I just give up because of some restrictions RNBO has? Maybe someone saw people or companies using RNBO for the same purpose?

Are there any prominent people in the community who can I reach out to for advice, assistance, or evaluation? I’m willing to invest resources to get it working, but it’s been hard to find knowledgeable audio engineers

I have been struggling with this export the past days. I read an old post where they talked about that the rnbopat needs to be a file, not just a subpatch, and I have been trying with @title, @file and @patchername... There used to be 3 rnbo-subpatches in the top rnbo, one for midi, one for grooves and one for filters, but it seemed like midiin only wanted to work in the top. Eventually I crammed everything in to one singe rnbo.

I made a successful export once, when I had accidentally deleted all the groove-objects.

Putting them back made the export fail again. So now I suspect the sample dependencies is the culprit.
