I had this problem with the Beta 9 as well. Is there something in a log file that needs to be deleted?

Thanks for the report. Looking at the crash log, this looks like we are crashing somehow trying to open a device with a reference to a file on the desktop. Could you please provide more information about what max for live device you are opening when this happens?
Actually, looking closer, is your HD named "Desktop"? If so, this is probably causing the crash. Try renaming your HD to anything besides "Desktop". This is a special disk name for Max. We can look into solving this in a future release, but at the moment it looks like we’re getting in an infinite loop because of this.
