A base audio track loaded into a buffer. On each bang, I want a short segment somewhere in the base to get overwritten/replaced by a short random segment — but the intruding segment is drawn randomly from one of 

 different source files each time (so the base gets progressively "invaded" by two different sonic identities, alternating unpredictably).

I'm guessing this means keeping the base as one mutable buffer that I keep punching new content into over time. Would 

 be the way to copy a chunk from a source buffer into a specific spot in the base buffer? Or is there a cleaner/more standard technique for this kind of "overwrite in place" operation?

I am experiencing a strange issue with [udpsend] in the current version of Max 9 on macOS.

The same patch works normally in Max 8: OSC messages are received by an ESP32-S3 when sent to its unicast IP address.

The receiver is an ESP32-S3, so there is no firewall on the receiving side. The ESP32 receives the broadcast packets correctly, but receives nothing when Max 9 is set to the specific IP address.

I also ran the following on the Mac while triggering the unicast message from Max 9:

sudo tcpdump -n -i en0 'udp and dst host 192.168.1.20 and dst port <port>'

tcpdump starts listening, but no matching packet is shown. This suggests that the unicast UDP packet is not leaving Max 9 at all.

Max 8, using the same patch, Mac, network, ESP32 IP address, and port, sends unicast correctly.

Has anyone else encountered a Max 9 / macOS issue where [udpsend] can broadcast but does not send unicast UDP packets? Is there a known permission, regression, or workaround?

For a project I need to use some [jit.gl.bfg] and [jit.gl.pix] in different context along a time line. I could change the [jit.gl.bfg] and [jit.gl.pix] parameters along the playback of the time line (a sound file) or create different "pipes" for each portion od the sound playback and then connect the different pipes individually to the [jit.gl.videoplane] on the different points of the playback/timeline. The last solution is the more convenient  but it implies to have several [jit.gl.bfg] and [jit.gl.pix] in parallel with only one rendered to the world playback window. 

My question is : would all those different parallel [jit.gl.bfg] and [jit.gl.pix] render and use computer ressources or is it only the one connected to the [jit.gl.videoplane] that will effectively render meaning only one that renders and use computer ressources?

Or maybe, there is a better way to do it, of course !

I'm working on a tree vibration installation and receiving live data from two ADXL345 accelerometers via the serial object in Max/MSP.

The data comes in as six float values per reading:

I'd like to record this data and play it back later for prototyping the sonification without needing the physical sensors connected.

1. Record and playback directly inside Max

2. Save to CSV and read it back in Max later

What would be the recommended approach for this kind of multi-channel float data? Any patches or objects you'd suggest?

Hello! I have a simple loop playback in gen~ using wave. Frequency of driving phasor calculates from start and end loop points. In my example end point = buffer size. When I change a starting point - there is noticible change in pitch (down) after about a half of buffer. And almost at the end it drops to zero. And at the very end it return to looping with high pitch. I made same patching using regular wave~ object -  all works as expected, without pitch drop. What's wrong with my patch?

I went ahead and made a couple custom sliders to satisfy my work environment (thanks TFL for the 'touch' idea)

My questioned contained in this example patch (along with 2 .js files)
