I have recently been attempting to build audio apps from Max 8 patches. In the past this has worked fairly painlessly and been very useful. Now it seems nearly impossible. The app opens, but will not pass audio, even if granted access to the microphone and thus system audio. The build operation will not pass *

~ or similar arithmetic operations, but only their verbal equivalents times~ and mc.times~.

Obviously much of this is because of Apple's decision to require "signing" of every application on recent operating systems, which means having to become a recognised developer and getting the app approved. I have come across a mention of a

, which seems to be mostly relevant to RBNO.

These seems to be very little documentation as to how to achieve a working app for private or free usage.

I rarely use the tutorials in my own works, but use them a lot to help beginner Max users understand new concepts.

In Max 9 the Tutorials have been moved online. This is a problem if you work offline. But what is worse is that the tutorial patches have been moved. Inside the tutorials you must select "Download Series Assets", and then unzip "Max Tutorials.zip". Inside the tutorials, it says which patch to use. For instance in "Tutorial 1: Hello", it says "This tutorial references the patcher 01mHello.maxpat". You then go to the folder that you downloaded, search for "01mHello.maxpat", and open that patch.

In Max 8 you just press "Open Tutorial" inside Max, and the patch opens.

Is it possible for Cycling74 to move the tutorial patches back into Max for ease of use?

In Max 9.0.3, I am changing a few settings for a [dialog] object in Inspector: changing mode to "Extended (Yes/No/Cancel)" and adding label text for the pop-up. Whenever I save these changes and close the patch, they are gone (set back to Default) when I re-open.

This is likely a very simple matter, but I haven't been able to figure it out, and I can't find the answer in forums...

I am trying to open a text file with the [text] object (using a "read" message) and pass it to a [textedit] object (with "dump"). This works fine in principle, but if the txt file has carriage returns/multiple lines, only the last line will be passed to [textedit]. 

How can I get it to display all lines of the text file for editing?

PS: I know I can use the internal text editor instead, but this is not an option, as I am trying to include the [textedit] interface in presentation mode along with some other interface items, and as far as I know there is no way to control the position of the internal text editor and integrate it with presentation mode.

Hello folks! I've been working on a live rig for myself the past several months, which is based mostly around playing back stems from my songs and improvising with a bunch of effects on top of it. Each song has a few sequencers from which pitch data is sent to effects and also some synths. At first I was doing all the sequencing at audio rate since that's obviously the only rock solid way to keep things perfectly in sync. However, a few months ago I decided to move all the sequencing over to the scheduler in order to free up CPU for other things, allow for easier polyphony with my synths, and in general just make things more compatible with my workflow outside of the live set, since I plan to use all these synths, sequencers, and effects for composition as well. 

Obviously, the sequencers gradually drift out of sync with the MSP parts of the rig. I've found that if I restart the DSP between every song, I can get away with it since it takes several minutes for things to get really off. I've read many threads on this same topic, which have been helpful, however there are still some questions I have. 

Why is it that the only way to get things synced back up is to restart the DSP rather than to briefly stop the scheduler? I was inclined to think that since the problem is the scheduler getting behind, the solution would be to stop the scheduler to allow it to "catch up". But doing so has never gotten things back in sync. Is it safe to conclude that once the scheduler gets behind, it stays behind?

To sum things up, I guess what I'm looking for is a way to get things synced back up without manually restarting the DSP. In an ideal world, I would be able to do song transitions haha. I know that the real solution is to just sequence at audio rate but I would much rather make this work. It doesn't have to be perfect.

For context, the two sequencers I'm using are delay based Markov chains. They are reset every N bars by metro. I've experimented with phasor -> delta-> edge -> for resetting instead of metro, but it doesn't help to keep things in sync at all. If anything, it makes it worse.

I've also experimented a bit with the slop time, but things will eventually get behind regardless of what it's set to. Also, I'm running I/O and SVS at 64 samples. Scheduler in audio interrupt makes things way way worse so I have that disabled. Overdrive is on.

I'm having trouble triggering a CW or CCW button depending on the direction of a  32 steps  dial 

Specifically when dial  goes  from 31 to 0 or 0 to 31, I would like no changes in the direction

First I explain my setup, but you can already skip to #2 below for the main issue I have

With my FCB1010 midi floor unit I output PC values to my raspberry pi in order to change presets on my external digital mixer as well as PC changes to multiple synths. On top of this I am working with different presets on my RNBO granulator patcher and with different buffers in a sampler patcher. I can control all external devices with my different PC values connected to OSC outport messages and midi channel routings to keep it clean, yet I can not seem to find a way to target a preset load in a specific patcher..

I am using a separate patcher to centralize this 'preset control' and to make presets of presets. For example button 1 is triggering midi CH16 PC x, CH1 PC y and OSC /-snapshot/load z. This works! BUT for a 'RNBO patcher preset load' I tried the following:

#1 (easiest, but a general preset load) output midi PC from my preset patcher to rnbo-control instance to load (so I can configure the presets ( eg. PC1 = preset fast, PC2 = preset slow, PC3 = preset fast) // but can not do this because I rely on a initialize graph set and rnbo-control midi connections with patchers are not saved apparently.. // also this would make an all-patcher-preset change which can be messy and not a great workflow since i would need to copy presets around (would have max 10 different incoming PC values)

#2 (specific patcher preset load) /rnbo/inst/1/presets/load as outport on my preset patcher, prior with a 'listener add msg' setting
