Live.grid one non-zero cell

Hi.

Im having a small problem building a simple drummachine with live.grid. I want only one cell of each column to be active, but still be able for it to be turned off. Basically i need the "one non-zero cell per column" preference from matrixcntrl, but cant find anything similar with live.grid.

Thankful for any answer. I does not have to be a ready solution, just some pointers and tips how i could go about this problem in the future.

Yeah I never understood why that limitation exists (not being able to disable a step when matrixmode is disabled). Seems like the grid is actually mimicking a multislider rather than a matrix.

A workaround would be to use the direction panel and set columns you want to disable to X. This has the benefit of being able to mute/unmute steps while keeping the notes untouched.

Otherwise, use the matrixmode and program something to make an entire column 0 except for the clicked cell if that step is set to one:

Thanks for answer!

Some things in the patch you shared doesn´t work, maybe because i have an old max version. But i´ve gone throught it and learned a lot. I´ve already thaught about using list and zl object but needed tips how to. Thanks again.

Amen hallå eller, Ö här,

Long time no see. Visste inte att du grejade med Max... har inte kikat på live.grid så jag har tyvärr inga goda råd för tillfället. Kul & se dej på forumet iaf.
