mapping max for live on toggles and buttons

Hi!

I'm trying to map max for live to ableton parameters, it works great with dials and gains but when I map something to a toggle or a button i get an error

"mapping unsuccessful: the selected parameter does not support this operation"

I'm using a live.map to select the live parameter id and send the id to a live.modulate~

maybe I need to use a live.object insted of a live.modulate~ (I try to use a live.object but I didn't manage to set it up properly)
