Multichannel Spatialization
Hi all,
I'm working on a quad spatialization set up to be able to trigger and control multiple signals simultaneously and independently (basically sounds chasing each other around the room and moving at different rates and such).
Currently I have multiple instances of the "spat4" subpatcher included with extras in Max8, which is not at all ideal. I've tried a few things, but mostly I've just repeatedly crashed Max.
Suggestions greatly appreciated!
Check the MC objects, particularly mc.mixdown and pan modes as a starting point.
If you want to use the IRCAM route I have used their SPAT library previously, but it might be overkill for quad.
Just came here to mention that spat4 is outdated, current version is spat5.3.6 (still compatible with Max 8). The learning curve is steep, but it brings a lot of super powers, especially for complex spatialization setups.
But indeed, for a simple quadri, mc. objects or a custom interface like such could be more than enough:
Update to spat5
its free
Ive been using for at least 4 years
no problem
//
(I take and borrow TFL example/advice and offer overkill for testing why your computer crashes)
here my basic 4 channel random
should not crash in max 8
includes suround 4 channel
reverb
and
HR Filter
Reverb is amazing in Spat5 so maybe not overkill just to use that
BTW. 4 speakers is not enough to get good surround effect
need minimum 6 speakers
