Playback of a score replacing scored pitches with random pitches

I'd like to be able to get a score into Max/Max for Live and have the computer play it replacing scored pitches with random pitches. I've been exploring Bach but I'm struggling to see how this could be acheived. Would this even be possible and if so, is there an existing tool that would do the job or would I need to build it from scratch?

Hi Emma,
If you're familiar with the Bach package already, that's perfect for the job:
Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

That's perfect! And a thing of simple beauty. I'd been trying to do it from the wrong angle entirely and it had gotten very messy - as well as not working.
