Who knew! This definitely scratches one of those itches I've had for a long time without quite realising! Thanks.

I love patcherargs. Definitely saves having to use loadmess objects!

I also find that filtering the input using "route," and sending the output of the right outlet of route (non-matches) to the input of the patcherargs route object enables an easy way to have "message" input control of attribute parameters using the same name.
