PX18 Step Sequencer Still Going Strong

Robert Henke (or Monolake, as he’s often known) needs no introduction to Max users. He’s long been an advocate of it and in recent years has turned into a black belt Gen ninja.
But, I’m here to talk about his PX18 - one of the many Projects sitting way back in our archives. The PX18 is a step sequencer, originally written in Max by Robert and Ableton CEO Gerhard Behles, around 1995. As it happens, the PX18 provided a lot of inspiration for how the first version of Ableton Live would deal with Clips and Scenes. In addition, almost all Monolake tracks made from 1995 to 2002 were sequenced using it.
Robert continued to develop it right up to 2001 and it’s this final version that now resides on our website. Post-PX18, Robert continues to develop in Max and now hosts a huge amount of Max For Live devices exclusively on his website that are not to be found anywhere else.
