Alex Mesker is a Sydney-based music producer, multimedia artist, and educator who uses Max to design real-time music and visual performance systems. He is passionate about enabling creativity with Max and has been teaching introductory to intermediate-level Max, MSP, and Jitter workshops for the past decade.

Alex has taught at Macquarie University since 2002 in the areas of music production, sound design, interactive arts, motion graphics, and front-end web design. He has a Master's degree in contemporary music studies and Ph.D. in screen soundtrack studies. A lifelong learner, Alex is dedicated to sharing his knowledge to empower creators to think about and solve creative problems with Max, and he runs workshops and offers private tuition on Max-related topics.

Alex designs interactive music generation assistants for music production and image manipulation systems to generate still and moving images. As an artist, he has created generative audiovisual artworks that unify sound and image, incorporating sensing systems that cause audience presence and engagement to affect the work.

In his role as an educator, Alex creates open learning spaces to help create and nurture deep relationships with creative technologies like Max and works closely with his students to help them realize individual creative works with Max-related technologies.

As a Max Certified Trainer, Alex is available for group workshops, private lessons, and guest teaching.
