Valencia, Spain
Marta Verde is a visual artist, creative technologist, maker, and educator. She has been teaching from small workshops to graduate students or mentoring hackathons for the last ten years. Her artistic practice materializes into developing live visuals with musicians or dancers, multimedia/interactive/lighting installations: applying different techniques like the development of custom software and new devices using digital fabrication and/or electronics as part of maker culture/DIY philosophy.
Marta Verde is a digital artist, creative technologist, maker, and educator. She is currently a full-time Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music (Valencia Campus) where she teaches Max/MSP and other topics related to technology and creativity.
Marta has a bachelor's in Fine Arts and specializes in Digital Arts for Scenic Arts as well as in Digital Fabrication. She also has considerable experience teaching from small workshops, graduate students, master students, private instruction or being a mentor in hackathons.
About her artistic activity, she has performed live visuals and presented interactive or multimedia installations in some of the best AV festivals in Spain and Portugal (LEV Festival, Primavera Sound, WOS, MIRA, DGTL, Benidorm Fest…). Focusing on realtime, always using technology as a tool to achieve creative results, and loves to teach others to do the same.
Teaching is one of her passions because the best part about it is seeing the students learn from her classes and grow as artists and creators. It makes her so happy to know that they're using her teachings to make something beautiful or at least something they can be proud of. The satisfaction of developing from scratch a first working code is something memorable.
One of her biggest goals when teaching is to make complex things simple. Technology can look difficult when you don't know how to deal with it, but when they get to know its possibilities, it can be the best ally to help to push boundaries and reach unbelievable results. Max is the perfect playground to prototype those ideas and make them real.
