I had this object working beautifully in a m4l device, but i just got a new computer and upgraded both Live and Max (not to mention Windows 7 to 8). I downloaded the latest version of Java but I’m getting this error:

mxj: could not find Java 2 Runtime Environment.

(mxj) mxj_platform_init failed. Could not initialize the Java Runtime Environment.

Hopefully it’s something obvious? I don’t remember having to download any externals with this one… Any help greatly appreciated!

Ok so i don’t know exactly know what I’m doing here, but i was searching my computer for more info on my Runtime Environment and i found my way to the menus pictured in my attachment. There originally was only 1 environment, a couple more were found, but they all say Platform 1.7. Would this be why I’m getting an error? If so, how to upgrade 1.7 to 2?

I don't speak Windows Config, but I'm going to guess that you're running Live in 32-bit mode and only have access to a 64-bit JVM.

Thanks! It was just the opposite, Java was only 32-bit.
