Need help using Macro controls only when track arm is active

Hello, I’m new to Max and need help creating a simple M4L device. My goal is to use Macro Controls or Device Parameters with the same MIDI controller element, but only on armed tracks. Is this possible? I’ve spent a lot of time trying to follow advice and instructions from ChatGPT, every time believing him since he told me every time that was possible and every time gave me instructions that weren't working. I’m hoping there’s an easy solution or existing device that can achieve this without requiring deep knowledge of Max.
