ABL Object Updates

New ABL Objects

Many new ABL objects have been added, including four new device additions (autofilter, compressor, drum buss, drum sampler) and four new lower-level dsp components (meldfilter, meldosc, pitchestimator, transform).

Custom Inputs

Now all ABL objects support creating custom inputs to control specific attributes with float numbers or signals. This offers more flexibility for control and modulation, especially with objects with many parameters.

Jitter Updates

New Jitter FX

Exciting new jit.fx objects include: jit.fx.camera, jit.fx.crt, jit.fx.vhs, jit.fx.cf.kuwahara, jit.fx.cf.tiltshift, jit.fx.ge.lineinterp, jit.fx.ge.pattern

Jitter GL Features

A new preference (enabled by default) creates a global GL context so that textures and other context resources are no longer destroyed when resizing, setting floating attribute, or going fullscreen. Shaders now also support "#include" directive to facilitate Lygia shader support.

Max Updates

Javascript v8 Improvements

Max 9.1 brings several new v8 implementations including Rx256 and ParameterInfoProvider classes, XMLHttpRequest, SQLite/SQLResult, and the SnapshotAPI, as well as improvements to v8 Buffer interactions. The v8ui now supports onkeydown, and JitterListener events.

Stepping with Functions

Using stepfun~ and stepdiv~ together breaks the output of function into a sequence of steps that can be played back with phasor ramps. The new stepcounter~ (and non-signal version) uses ramp jumps or impulses to step through a counter, and can define a list of steps per count for generating rhythmic variation.

New Codebox and UI Features

Max 9.1 includes a new text.codebox object, as well as the ability to transform many codeboxes to/from its associated box object. The messageview object displays a stream of messages (similar to the Max window). Number boxes can now display and interact with lists, and new listbox and textbox objects provide aliases to this functionality.

Max 8.6 introduces a collection of 18 new Max themes that let you extend the colors of the Max environment beyond light and dark grey. You can find these themes in the Max Preferences window.

Max for Live

MIDI Tools

Create custom Max patches that generate and alter MIDI data in a Live Clip.

live.modulate~

Use a signal or float value to alter Live parameters in realtime without changing the stored parameter value. Live modulation is an alternative to using live.remote~ to modify controls with Max for Live in realtime.

Jitter

Physically Based Rendering

The new jit.gl.pbr object lets you create and use PBR materials to render any jit.gl object. This offers a more realistic visual effect than the typical rendering pipeline.

Jitter Tools Package

Including abstractions for video-warping and projection mapping, loading multiple movie files, and generating gradients, the Jitter Tools package offers a small set of useful Jitter add-on features.
