The instrument uses the Maxuino software protocol to interface Max/MSP with an Arduino. Max is used to take information from Midi files and a controller keyboard. This information is then processed and sent out as a set of control signals to an Arduino Mega 2560. The Arduino and auxiliary circuits the control the rotary solenoids and servo motors that produce the beater action.
