Racemates - Still Life [Max/MSP Music Video]

We used Max/MSP Jitter objects to generate a variety of visual effects both staged and random, according to a metro set to the song's tempo. For example, the brightness-contrast object is responsible for the random changes in colour (often to a shade of blue that mimics the colours you see when you open and close your eyes), and a zoomer object created oscillations that follow the keyboard sound.

A delay patch creates the fade effects in the introduction of the song, creating the illusion of spinning pool balls being suspended in perpetual motion. At the line "everything is still", we use a ramp in conjunction with a fogger patch and zoomer patch to create the effect of an old school cathode ray television powering off. We hope you enjoy the video!
