Sounds from the Sun - Scientific data sonification

This is the project I realized for my thesis for my Master Degree in Communication Design at the Iuav University of Venice.

For this project I decided to use sound as a media to translate informations, to exploit the interesting differences that our auditory system has, when compared to our vision.

A phenomenon that i found extremely fit for this kind of investigation is Solar Wind: since it can create big problems to our communications and energy distribution system and cannot be forecast, it needs to be constatly monitored.

We should be alarmed when sudden changes happens, and that's very close to how our hearing works: evolution made it so we tend to ignore constant background sounds, but we are promptly alerted when we perceive a new sound, or a sudden change in the background sounds.
