Coucou Bird Cadenzas: Improvisations for solo Instruments and Computer

Triple album of multi-instrumental improvisations by Vancouver composer Carl Winter in an interactive setting, using Max8. Thanks to the Canada Council for the Arts/Conseil des Arts du Canada for funding this project.

Main interactive features: chromatic and diatonic inversion/harmonization responses through pitchtracking (using "fzero~" object) and randomly triggering "makenote", "noteout" and "vst~" objects (these recordings use samples of the Vienna Symphonic Library); sampling using the "umenu" object; periodically augmentational echo feedback using "tapin~" and "tapout" objects in conjunction with "metro" and "counter" objects; granular synthesis using "groove~/grooveduck" object in conjunction with "buffer" and "record~" objects; pitchshifting using "gizmo~" object; convolution using "fft~" object; sequencing using "table" object in conjunction with "metro" and "counter" objects; ring modulation through "cycle~".
