Image Scanner Synth
.png)
This project is my first full Max instrument that utilizes the Jitter and MSP objects in Max to convert an image into a sound. This instrument is a 4 voice midi enabled synth with a ton of variations for sound color, and compositional diversity. You can choose between three preset images to scan or choose your own image to scan.
To get started download the patch and open the .exe file. From there you will be presented with the main interface. Press the information sub patch to get started.
P.S. You need to check the image mode toggle to get an image on the view
Not windows only - the mxf file in the download opens and runs on my Mac. Thanks for sharing!
Oh, I didn't know. Well that's great
Hey Branden, I was looking for something like that for my artistic project.
Really nice tool! Great work :)
But, to record samples, it worked the first time and after that, it's only created files without audio, just a new empty slot on my folder. Any idea of the process?
LEO PATISSIER-BAUDEL Hello, I'm glad you liked it. To record make sure you press the open button first, this saves a temporary audio file in the directory of your choosing. Then press the toggle button right next to the open button (the X button). When that button is lit up the recoding has started. When you are finished press the toggle button again (this stops the recording). When you want to record again just press the open button and start over the process. I hope this helped. P.S. The way I eventually got the audio scanner to work caused the recorded outputs to have a 90 deg phase shift that is pretty obvious when you look at the waveform ( the waveform is unipolar). To fix this you need to apply an phase shift of 90 deg to the whole audio to get the waveform bipolar.
hello! spectacular project! I am new to MAX/MSP so I have a rather stupid question. Is it possible to use webcam live feed instead of a chosen image? Thanks!
