Nike Freestore

Max was used to control the movement of the whole store.
Initially Max was intended for quickly prototyping a program with a few motors and a user interface, but it ended up hosting the whole motion app. A custom object was programmed in C which sent commands to 176 motors through a couple of CAN bus USB interfaces. The positions of the motors were received through OSC via the networking objects. Native objects were very helpful in timing tasks and setting graphic controls to fine tune positions, speeds, etc.
