No Dispositivo

"No Dispositivo" is an interactive art installation that explores the concept of presence through an automated and continuously evolving dance choreography. The installation features a video projection of a dancer performing a choreography and four robotic devices that mimic the dancer's movements. The various components of the installation move, and randomly appear and disappear in the space triggered by software created in Max. This project was developed by Nicolás Villa and Citlali Hernández with the assistance of Ona Sallas and Andréa Costa, during a residency at Hangar, a center for artistic research and production in Barcelona.

We developed a system of sensors to capture the dancer's movements, where this data was recorded in Max and later used to move the robotic devices using a set of servo motors connected to an Arduino. Video playback and light manipulation using relays were also triggered from Max.
