ortho

A Max external that generates invented language — pseudo-words that hold the shape and internal consistency of a language without belonging to any existing one.

One [ortho] object mints a language substrate from a seed and then draws every word from that same substrate, so its output reads as one tongue rather than a fresh scramble. Names recur. Phrases return whole. Things get quoted. Every seed names a different language, and the same seed always names the same one.

Seven dials, each 0 to 1, control how much the language repeats itself and how it is punctuated. Three further attributes shape how much text comes out without touching the language. Words arrive as a list of symbols; a parallel list reports each word's origin, so patches can treat a recurring name differently from a freshly minted word.

The generator is a host-neutral C library shared with a JavaScript reference implementation and an openFrameworks addon. A seed produces identical output in all three, proven against published golden vectors rather than assumed.
