PMCG by Felipe Vareschi and Paris Tutera Kyriakopoulos

The Polymetric Mathematical Combing Granulator is a Max patch that explores the rhythmic potential of granulation.

In the current music technology landscape Granulation is associated with giant clouds of sounds and swaths of ambience. We decided to apply Granular processing to a more rhythmic approach.

The PMCG exposes critical components of the granulator (Read Position, Position Jitter and Speed) to step sequencers with arbitrary length. This way, the user can create complex polymetric relationships between all of these controls. Grain Length is calculated based on tempo, and the AD design of the Grain Envelope encourages percussion design. The user is also provided with a simple filter section, A novel four tap delay based around fixed mathematical constants and a two-band distortion u.nit

A user can load any .wav file by dropping it into the granulator window and start the granulation by pressing the space bar.
