simpleKinect

simpleKinect is an interface application for sending data from the Microsoft Kinect to any OSC-enabled application. The application attempts to improve upon similar software (Kinect-Via, Synapse, OSCeleton) by offering more openni features and more user control.

The interface was built with Processing, utilizing the libraries: controlP5, oscP5, and simple-openni. Because I used open-source tools, and because the nature of the project is to stimulate creativity, simpleKinect is free to use.

I don't quite understand. This seems to be a tool built for Processing, not Max.

Does this interface well with Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite? Does this enable all kinect models to work with Mac? From my knowledge and research, only model 1414 works with Mac. Thanks.

@greg FYI , I have model 1473 and I use it with synapse & jit.synapse on a Mac

@phiol appreciate the info, thanks. Is anyone using the Kinect 2 (gotta love the better, high res sensors/cameras) with a Mac? perhaps in a virtual windows environment and then sent over to their Mac side?

hi John.....I wanted just to say that SimpleKinect is simply fantastic. I work with max/msp and I was using, before, synapse. Simplekinct is much better and much more precise. thank you so much!!!! I also have one question: I saw that SK (simplekinect) can recognize more than one user but I didn't understand, yet, how to manage with the flow of data coming from kinect. is it mapping all of the user? can you give me some tips about it?

again.....great job.....and thanks!

This appears to be OSX-only. It's developed in Processing, which is cross-platform (moreso than Max!), but it relies on OpenNI drivers, which seem to have been killed by Apple when they bought PrimeSense. (If I've gotten any of this wrong, plz weigh in, but I thought it should be mentioned somewhere.)
