Practical Max #3
Gregory Taylor uses Jitter patching to emulate a series of "obsessive" drawings by Martin Thompson. By combining simple, repeated image operations and different tiling techniques, Gregory creates complex symmetrical graphics.

Thanks Gregory, this is a beautiful patch. Thanks also for the introduction to Martin Thompson; his work is incredible.
Beautyful patch, I've just made a version drawing circles instead of squares and the results are amazing!
Thank you Gregory for introducing this artist/artform and your fantastic Max interpretation ;-)
Looks interesting. However, I am unable to get it to work (in Max/MSP 5 + Max 6) due to an error message : object: matrixcrtl | message: error -1 loading pixl.pct
Now, I have identified the included pixl.pct that comes with the patch, added it to the search path, and also tried looking in the matrixctrl Inspector to see if it it was asking for it specifically. ... stumped. What am I missing ____ ?
Interesting. I tried opening the .pct file in OS X 10.6.8 Finder --- I get an Unsupported File Format error message :
The PICT file format is not supported in 64-bit mode. Try selecting "Open in 32 Bit Mode" in the Finder's info window for Preview.
Is there any workaround to this ____ ?
Still unable to get it to work properly (same error message) ____ . \
(Apologies in advance for the multiple comments).

Sorry about the delay - I was on the road. What version of Max are you running? the .pct file opens without a hitch here. Perhaps a bit more information about your system would be helpful, since a quick scrum hasn't been able to duplicate what you're seeing.
Alternately, I suppose you could load a .png file variant. I'll see if I can send you one.
Sure. Thanks for the reply.
I'd greatly appreciate it if you found the time to send something over, but don't trouble yourself if it's too much.
System Specs:
OS X 10.6.8
Max version 6.0.1
The Preview application in my OS doesn't know what to do with the attached .pct file (throws 64bit-mode error message).
I tried opening it in Photoshop and saving it as a 32bit pct and then reloading the patch, but Max gives the same error message as before. I see that there is a new version of Max now and that maybe I should try upgrading.
Give the update a try.
Works now + looks fantastic :) Very nice patch-design. Thanks.
Gregory Taylor, you are amazing!!
where is the patch?
